Parent onboarding pack

Everything your family needs on day one.

Your school has chosen C’noté so the important parts of its emails reach you as one calm WhatsApp note — in the language you read at home, about your child. This short pack is the welcome letter, a plain guide to how it works, and the two-minute setup. No new app to install. No portal to remember.

Welcome to C’noté

Dear parent, welcome. If your week looks anything like most international-school families', your inbox carries the newsletter, the year-group bulletin, the class teacher, the trips office and the sports coordinator — each reasonable on its own, overwhelming together. C’noté exists to take that weight off you. We read everything the school sends and give you one short WhatsApp note: what matters, about your child, in your language.

We are a small Swiss team, and we built C’noté for our own families first. That shapes two promises. The first is honesty: every line we send is grounded in what the school actually wrote, with a link back to the original email behind it — never a word invented. The second is respect for your data: it is processed in the EU, never used to train anyone's AI, and it is yours to control. You will hear from us only when there is something worth your attention, and never more than you ask for.

Thank you for trusting us with the small, important job of keeping your family in the loop. The next two sections explain exactly how the updates arrive and walk you through the one-time setup.

How it works

What C’noté sends. Once a day, you get a short digest — the things that matter about your child, pulled from the school's emails and written in plain language. Anything urgent (a sick child to collect, a form due tomorrow) pings you instantly instead of waiting for the digest. You can also reply with a question any time and get a straight answer, with a link to the original email behind every line.

How the updates arrive. Everything comes through the WhatsApp you already use — no new app, no portal login, no password to forget. The notes land at a time you choose, in the language you choose. That is the whole experience: open WhatsApp, read one calm note, get on with your day.

You are in control. You can change the delivery time, switch your language, or pause the updates yourself at any moment — just reply in WhatsApp. To stop entirely, reply STOP; to start again later, reply START. These you manage yourself, instantly, with no ticket and no waiting.

Deleting your data. If you want your data removed, send us one message — by WhatsApp or to your school — and the request is honoured within 30 days. It is a request we fulfil for you, not a button that wipes things in the moment, so that we can confirm it is really you and remove the record properly. Either way, it is one message away. The full detail on where your data lives and how it is handled is on our Trust & security and Privacy pages.

Getting set up: consent & your first PIN

Setup takes about two minutes and happens entirely in WhatsApp. You only do it once.

Step 1 — Say hello. Your school adds your WhatsApp number, and C’noté sends you a short welcome message from the school's number. Saving that number as a contact makes the notes easy to find later.

Step 2 — Give consent (reply YES). Before anything else, we send you a plain-language data notice: what we process, why, where it lives, and a link to the full privacy policy. To agree, simply reply YES. That single reply is your recorded consent — nothing is processed for your family until you give it, and you can withdraw it later with one message. This is the consent step, and it always comes first.

Step 3 — Set PIN. Next we invite you to choose a private PIN. Reply with SET PIN followed by a number only you know — for example, SET PIN 4821. That PIN protects the optional parent view of your child's notes, so that even on a shared phone your family's information stays yours. If you ever forget it, you can set a new one the same way.

That's it. From the next school email onward, your calm WhatsApp notes begin — at your time, in your language, about your child. Reply with a question whenever you like. If anything feels off, your named contact at C’noté is one message away.
